As part of its central program, the NCP delegation arrived in Kushtia from Pabna on Monday night. On Tuesday afternoon, central party leaders including NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Chief Organizer (South) Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer (North) Sarjis Alam, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, and Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Zara, visited the grave of Abrar Fahad.
Following the visit, the leaders met with Abrar’s parents.
Speaking to reporters, Nahid Islam said, “Abrar Fahad, a meritorious student of BUET, was brutally tortured and killed in his dormitory by the terrorist fascist organization Chhatra League. His only crime was speaking for the country. He had posted on Facebook against Indian aggression, particularly regarding the Feni River water-sharing deal which harmed Bangladesh’s interest. At that time, we launched a movement in protest.”
Nahid Islam also claimed that the protest over Abrar’s death sparked a turning point in Bangladesh’s politics. “The slogan ‘Delhi or Dhaka’ emerged from that movement. The path that Abrar Fahad showed us—standing against foreign aggression and for national sovereignty—is the same path the National Citizens’ Party follows. This path later led to the July Uprising. From Abrar to Abu Saeed, we honor all martyrs,” he added.
The NCP’s procession will start from Kushtia’s Boro Bazar and march through Thana Mor, Choy Rastar Mor, and Panch Rastar Mor, where central leaders are scheduled to address several street rallies
