He added that following major fire incidents in Mirpur, Dhaka, and Chittagong EPZ in the past week, the fire at Shahjalal’s cargo village is alarming. He stressed the importance of determining whether this was an accidental incident or if any element of sabotage was involved.
The Jamaat Amir believes that such fires at strategic national installations indicate administrative mismanagement, negligence, and security lapses. He stated, “If there is any evidence of negligence, mismanagement, or sabotage in this incident, a proper, impartial, and swift investigation must be ensured, and the responsible parties must be brought to justice with exemplary punishment.”
He also called for the highest standards of security and fire safety to be ensured at the airport and all critical installations in the country to prevent such accidents in the future.
In his statement, he expressed deep sympathy for terrified passengers and the general public, extended sincere condolences to affected importers and business owners, and thanked firefighters and other personnel risking their lives to control the blaze.
He concluded with a prayer: “May Almighty Allah protect our beloved country Bangladesh from all kinds of accidents, disasters, and unwanted incidents. Ameen.”
