Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections, the BNP has intensified the process of finalizing candidacies. As part of this, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has been holding continuous virtual meetings with nomination aspirant leaders.
On Sunday (26 October), meetings were held at the BNP Chairman’s political office in Gulshan with nomination aspirants from the Rangpur, Faridpur, Mymensingh, Comilla, and Chattogram divisions. Tarique Rahman joined virtually from London and provided key guidance regarding the conduct and discipline of the aspirants.
During the meeting, he clearly stated, “This office is located in a diplomatic zone. Therefore, no one should come here with followers or gatherings. Such behavior is completely prohibited to protect the party’s discipline and dignity.”
According to sources from the meeting, recently some aspirants’ supporters created crowds in front of the Gulshan political office, causing traffic congestion and disorder, which has led to dissatisfaction within the party leadership.
Tarique Rahman further emphasized that candidacy decisions will be based not on emotions, but on eligibility, popularity, and organizational reports. Five surveys have already been conducted, and final decisions will be made based on reports from organizational secretaries.
Party sources indicate that on Monday (27 October), Tarique Rahman will meet nomination aspirants from the Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, and Dhaka divisions.
The BNP plans to finalize candidates for nearly 200 constituencies and give the formal ‘green signal’ within October.
