Yemen’s Houthi rebels have launched a missile attack targeting Israel, triggering air raid sirens across Tel Aviv, areas near Jerusalem, and several regions in central Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its air defense systems were activated to intercept missiles fired from Yemen, adding that security forces remain on high alert while monitoring the situation.

The attack caused panic among civilians, with reports of residents rushing to shelters following the sirens, according to local media.

Tensions in the region have already been high following escalating exchanges involving Lebanon and Iran, including Israeli airstrikes and retaliatory actions.

Israel has launched airstrikes on multiple military sites in Iran within hours of reported missile attacks from Tehran. The Israeli military said its air force targeted several installations in western and central Iran.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has claimed that it shot down two Iranian drones in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the aircraft posed a threat to international commercial shipping.

In a statement posted on X on Saturday (June 6), CENTCOM said US forces deployed in the Middle East detected and destroyed two “one-way attack drones.” The statement added that the drones had become a threat to security along the vital maritime route in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to CENTCOM, American forces remain prepared to respond to any aggressive actions by Iran. The command also said US troops are actively working to ensure maritime security across the region.

Earlier on Friday (June 5), the United States also claimed to have shot down four additional attack drones. The recent incidents have renewed tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.

The Israeli military has claimed responsibility for an airstrike on a Hezbollah-linked facility in southern Beirut, Lebanon, saying the target was an important base of the group.

According to a report by The Jerusalem Post on Sunday (June 7), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the operation was carried out in the Dahieh area of Beirut, a known stronghold of Hezbollah.

In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said the strike was a response to attacks carried out by Hezbollah against Israeli territory.

No confirmed information on casualties or damage has been released so far. Hezbollah has not issued an official response regarding the incident.

At least five people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on a wedding ceremony in Gaza City, according to reports. Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera said the death toll may rise further.

The report said two missiles were fired at a makeshift tent during the celebration. Panic spread immediately after the strike, leaving many people dead and injured.

Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud reported that a significant number of people were also wounded, with fears that others may still be trapped under the rubble.

Details about the exact location and timing of the attack were not immediately confirmed.

A source at Al-Shifa Hospital said at least a dozen people were injured in the incident, with victims receiving treatment in hospital.

The United States has claimed that it struck two Iranian surveillance radar sites and destroyed at least four drones in the process. The information was stated by the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the American military command in the Middle East. The report was highlighted by BBC on Saturday (June 6).

CENTCOM said the operations targeted radar installations located in Qeshm Island and near the Guruk coastal area. According to the US, Iran had launched drones toward American naval vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz, and the drones were shot down as a defensive response.

Meanwhile, Iranian media outlet Tasnim News reported explosions in the Sirik port area of Hormozgan province in southern Iran, with multiple blasts reportedly heard.

Tehran, however, presented a different account, saying Iranian forces fired warning shots to signal US forces in the Gulf of Oman. It added that there was no intention to carry out an attack.

Iran has carried out strikes on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to recent American military operations. According to US military sources, Tehran fired seven ballistic missiles in the attack, as reported by Al Jazeera.

Earlier, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it intercepted several Iranian drones heading toward the Strait of Hormuz and also claimed strikes on Iranian radar sites.

CENTCOM stated that six of the seven missiles were destroyed by defence systems, while the remaining one failed to hit its target.

The US military confirmed that no American casualties were reported and denied Iran’s claim of damage to the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.

A temporary ceasefire between the two countries came into effect on April 8, but diplomatic talks for a lasting agreement are still ongoing amid continued tensions.

Tensions remain high along the Lebanon–Israel border despite ongoing discussions on a possible ceasefire. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that one Israeli military officer was killed in an anti-tank missile strike carried out in southern Lebanon by Hezbollah.

The deceased officer has been identified as Captain Itan Shmuel Lemberg, a member of the IDF’s 7th Armored Brigade. According to military sources, he was killed on the spot when a tank was targeted during an operation in southern Lebanon.

Following the attack, Israeli forces launched retaliatory air and artillery strikes, claiming to have targeted Hezbollah military infrastructure. Military activity in the border region has also increased.

Earlier, a ceasefire proposal mediated by the United States between Lebanon and Israel had been put forward, but the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah rejected it. The group’s leader, Naim Qassem, warned that rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel would continue if strikes on Lebanon do not stop.

Meanwhile, renewed strikes have been reported in several parts of Lebanon. State media said multiple attacks took place in the south and east, causing casualties. The Israeli military has also issued warnings restricting civilian movement in border areas due to escalating tensions.

Hakan Fidan has arrived in Dhaka on a two-day official visit, marking the first visit by a Turkish foreign minister to Bangladesh in nearly six years. Diplomats are viewing the trip as an important step in strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

He landed in Dhaka on Thursday night, where he was received at the airport by Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam was also present to welcome the Turkish minister.

On Friday, Hakan Fidan is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Khalilur Rahman. The meeting is expected to focus on trade, mutual cooperation, and several regional issues involving both countries.

Later the same day, the Turkish foreign minister will travel to Cox's Bazar to visit Rohingya refugee camps. He is expected to observe the humanitarian situation there and review Turkey’s ongoing assistance programs for displaced Rohingyas.

The visit is also considered significant because it is the first trip to Bangladesh by a foreign minister from a major global power since the country’s new government took office. On Saturday, Hakan Fidan is expected to meet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office for high-level discussions.
