The organization considers such incidents as abuse of power, going against the spirit of a new political arrangement, and holds both the government and the NCP accountable for this incident.In a statement issued on Saturday, TIB’s Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said: "The NCP, formed under the leadership of students who were at the forefront of the movement for the ideals of the new Bangladesh, could become a significant political milestone. The young leadership, inspired by the spirit of anti-discrimination, has high expectations from the people. However, the party must refrain from abusing power and consider this bus requisition incident as a red alert."
He further added: "If a new political party lie the NCP fails to stay free from zero-sum politics and the culture of power abuse, it will generate negative reactions among the public and hinder the development of democratic values. The people expect new parties to play a key role in changing the longstanding authoritarian practices in the country's TIB emphasized that the role of an interim government is to remain neutral and not provide any political advantage to any party.
It also said that new political parties, including the NCP, must stay away from the misuse of power and authoritarian practices, working towards building a transparent and accountable political culture.The incident of requisitioning five buses from Pirojpur, allegedly with assistance from the deputy commissioner’s office, has sparked complaints on social media.These buses were requisitioned for the participation of the Pirojpur branch of the Anti-Discrimination Students and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee in the NCP’s inaugural event.
