On February 14, a similar gas explosion left 11 members of a family injuredA couple and their 5-year-old child suffered burns in a gas cylinder explosion in Ashulia, Savar.
The fire broke out around 6:30am on Sunday in a ground-floor flat of a two-story rental house owned by Sohag Mondal in the Durgapur Chala Bazar area of Ashulia.The injured are Md Jahangir, 40, Beauty Begum, 35, and their daughter Tanha, 5.
Locals and neighbors managed to extinguish the fire and rescue them before taking them to the hospital Jahangir works at Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd, while his wife Beauty is employed at Picard Bangladesh Ltd, a leather goods factory.According to neighbors, the incident occurred when they tried to light an LPG gas cylinder for cooking in the morning.They were later taken to the Savar Upazila Health Complex, from where they were referred to the National Burn Institute in Dhaka.
Neighbor Habib said: "As soon as they tried to light the gas stove for cooking in the morning, the explosion occurred. Some household items also caught fire. A gas leak might have caused this. The blast even bent their window frames. All three suffered burns, and we saw that the child was the most severely burned."Notably, on February 14, a similar gas explosion during cooking in the Gumail area of Ashulia left 11 members of a family injured. Three of them later died, while the others are still undergoing treatment.
