Fakhrul: Many journalists engage in brokerage for personal gains

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has criticized a section of journalists, saying that many engage in brokerage to secure personal benefits. He added that some journalists focus more on acquiring properties such as houses and plots rather than upholding journalistic integrityHe made these remarks at a discussion meeting marking the posthumous Ekushey Padak award for late journalist Mahfuz Ullah at the National Press Club on Saturday.
Recalling Mahfuz Ullah, Mirza Fakhrul said: "He had nothing. His family had to seek help from friends for his medical treatment."Acknowledging that the government had honoured a talented, intellectual, and patriotic individual with the Ekushey Padak, Mirza Fakhrul said: "After the 2014 elections and before the 2018 elections, Mahfuz Ullah played a significant role.”At that time, he, along with Mahbub Ullah and Zafrullah, made extraordinary efforts to unite all political parties. Because of them, right- and left-wing groups were able to come together. He was deeply committed to democracy and worked tirelessly for its establishment," he addedThe BNP secretary general further said: "Fascism has now been overthrown.

As Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury mentioned, political parties in this country have long been striving, fighting, and struggling, and ultimately, through the collective efforts of students and the people, it has been achieved."He expressed optimism, saying: "Everyone now sees a ray of hope. We will rebuild Bangladesh anew. Everyone is saying this. It is essential for everyone to be even more sincere. We must truly work towards building a livable country for future generations."
He added: "Many of us have aged, but there are young and emerging individuals who are rethinking the country's future. In their vision for the nation, they must remember those who have contributed before.
