In an interview with a private television channel, he said that he and other student representatives serving as advisers might announce their resignations in the coming days to join the party’s formation process.In September, students formed the Jatiya Nagorik Committee to rebuild the country through consensus.
This committee is now leading efforts to launch a new political party, which is expected to be officially announced later this month.There are discussions about forming a new political party led by students or leaders of the mass uprising. However, it is not possible to be part of such a party while remaining in the government,” Nahid Islam said in his interview with Ekattor TV.
“If I decide that working directly with the people is more important than my role in the government, I will step down and join the party’s formation process,” he added. He further said that a final decision regarding his resignation would be made public within the next few days.
Acknowledging the differences between forming a political party and engaging in electoral politics, he emphasized that they are entering the political landscape with full awareness of these challenges.
The new party’s official launch is expected before the end of February.
