Trump deeply annoyed with Indian journalist's 'accent'

President Donald Trump interrupted a reporter's question at a press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, saying he didn't understand her question because her "accent" was incomprehensible.

The India Today reporter cited the President's decision to extradite 2008 Mumbai terror attack suspect Tahabbur Rana, but noted that anti-India forces still prevail in the US through Khalistani separatists. The reporter asked Trump what his plan would be to deal with this issue.

"You need to say it louder," Trump initially replied.

This forced the reporter to ask the question a second time, but the president stopped and said: "I can't understand a word he's saying. It's not really pronunciation. It's a little hard for me."

A few minutes later, after the President finished answering a separate question, another India Today reporter stepped back to ask his colleague's question again.

"The question is, you have decided to extradite Tahabbur Rana, thank you very much. India is waiting for him to be brought back to India so that he can be brought to justice," the reporter began. "But there are many other elements in the US, especially Khalistani separatists, who are working against Indian interests - how will America cooperate with India on this front?"

"The Biden administration has brought charges against Indian agencies," the reporter added. "With Tulsi Gabbard now appointed as DNI [Director of National Intelligence], would you reconsider that?"

The president responded by saying that he believes India does not have a "very good relationship" with the Biden administration, citing their refusal to sell oil and gas as the reason.

"We are sending him back to India immediately and there is a lot more to do because we have several requests," the president said, referring to Rana's detention in a high-security prison in the United States after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that killed 166 people.
