Position clear, will ensure a crime-free border: India on ties with Bangladesh
India said its position on border fencing was also communicated to the Bangladesh official summoned to the MEA office earlier this week.
India on Friday reiterated its stance on ensuring a crime-free border with Bangladesh, and spoke about the measures it had taken in this regard. The development came days after India summoned the Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Nural Islam amid border tensions.
"We remain committed to ensuring a crime-free border with Bangladesh by effectively addressing cross-border criminal activities, smuggling and trafficking, barbed wire fencing, border lighting, installation of technical devices, and cattle fences are measures that are aimed at securing the border," said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
