Nahid resigns, says he can do more on the streets than in govt
Md Nahid Islam resigned as information adviser on Tuesday, saying he believes his role in consolidating the July uprising forces will be more effective outside the government than within it. Nahid, during a press conference in front of the State Guest House Jamuna, after submitting his resignation to Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, said he wants to work with the public rather than in the government.

What can be done with people is not possible while staying in the government. Besides, I prefer to be on the streets for politics I have submitted my resignation letter and resigned from all committees."
He said that in six months in office, he has performed additional duties outside the responsibilities of his two ministries Although six months is a very short time, Nahid said he has tried to do his best, adding that the public will evaluate his work.In response to questions from reporters, he said he intends to join the new political party being formed by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Jatiya Nagorik Committee.
When asked about who will replace him in the government, Nahid said it is up to the Cabinet There had been discussions for several days that Nahid would resign and take helm of the new party. Nahid is supposed to be the convener of the party being launched by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, which will be announced on Friday.
